My Widow

kindra-widow2

The sky opened up as she walked through the grass.

She stood by my grave and left a rose in the rain…

I had not laid eyes on her in years

So many things left undone, much left unsaid.

The black swans swam in the pond adjacent to my resting place;

Singing songs of longing and the past…

Tears stung her face as she touched my grave marker

She had sought comfort from another man

And would be seeing me with less frequency.

She said she would always love me…

My widow…
